Zathire shrugged, he chose that second in fact to start walking. He had to wonder if he would have left at the exact same time if Baiken hadn't said anything. Probably within the same three seconds at least. Somehow that arbitrary thought amused him slightly. Walking was sort of irritating in the bright sun. The dusty road was a light beige and it stung the eyes to stare at how bright it got in the sun. At least he had large cheekbones from his barbarian descent providing at least some shade for his eyes and his Telrainian skin from his mother's side soaked up the sun making that uncanny orange tan even brighter.
His pace was not frantic but it was fairly quick even for someone with longer legs, mostly due to the fact he ignored his fatigue even whilst the trail was still slightly climbing uphill for a good five miles. Most people would travel around 5 to 10 miles a day but he was setting a pace with little rest that might lead to as many as 30. A good portion of the day remained considerably uneventful. On occasion evidence of the horse that had gone ahead of them could be found on the trail. Despite the time that passed Zathire made no effort what so ever to bond with Baiken.

Baiken watched as he left just seconds after she told him he could. She was standing n the next moment and kicking dirt over the fire she ha build. Still with food in hand as she ate and continued walking to follow behind him. Her long legs made her follow effortless.
Once she finished the last bit of meat she'd been carrying she'd patted her hand off on the length of her kimono before skipping a few steps to catch up just a few feet behind him before she steadied her pace and continued in her pace. She didn't need her eyes to follow him. The blinding light wasn't a bother to her even with the road shining bright enough to nearly blind someone.
She only peeked open her eye a little when need be. “What is the rush for?” She asked out of curiosity as she opened yet another bottle of mead. She was down to two so she planned to make them last. The heat was slightly unbearable, and the pace he was taking was a little bit of a workout, but it wasn't one that was that much of a problem.

It was one of the first things she'd said without reason. Either she was terribly bored, was hurting from the pace, or somewhat desiring to strike up a conversation. Not being one to deny her from being a friend he spoke his mind. "The point of going somewhere is to get there," his tone was slightly edged with a hint of derogatory intent but no more than the what naturally came when he had to summon the effort to speak. "I ain't gonna sit around here all day and travel the pace of a lowlander." He relaxed a bit realizing his tone was almost sounding accusatory, and gave small grunt of laughter and swept his hand out to display their 'beautiful' surroundings of dead grass, dirt and a few burnt trees whilst the locus range out their whining hums in the high heat. "But by all means madam," he pontificated in his snobbiest tone, "if you wish to lounge around, and enjoy the scenery, be my guest." He tried his best to impersonate a bow.

Baiken's expression was unphased by his behavior. He had a spedific taste in scenery. Well...at least he wasn't a complete neanderthal. Once her answer was fully given, she actually gave a half amused smirk.
"At least you're not completely brainless." She stated with a short sigh. His theatrical bow was ignored. Despite it being a slight insult on her cultural stand point, she wouldn't bother acknowledging it since he more than likely didn't know anything about her culture. She scratched the side of her nose waiting for him to proceed forward once again.
She once again reached into her kimono and removed the bottle of mead and took another swig. The taste still growing on her. A moment after putting the bottle back in place she removed a small pipe from her sash. A few taps on the bottom of her shoe had actually caused it to light on it's own. There was barely any form of smoke coming from it as she just allowed it to rest in the corner of her mouth.
The stress of changing worlds, dealing with flu, and the situation she was in currently had her stressing enough to resort to it. Smoking usually went hand and hand with drinking. The scent coming from the pipe was actually completely masking the smoke by replacing it with a like sweet vanilla scent. It was impossible to smell smoke from it. That was because, there was no actual smoke. It was like a water vapor. In fact, the 'sparks' were just for a rather decorative effect to appear more realistic. There was no tobacco to form smoke. A neat invention she'd managed picking up from the world she'd previously existed in. It was a shame she was going to run out of the nicotine packets...and probably never get them again.
Assuming Zathire had proceeded forward without warning, she began following him again and keeping up with his pace. There was something a little puzzling however, he'd asked nothing about her besides the first interrogation that she had been given upon arrival. To keep her from dying of boredom...she decided to ask a question or two of her own.
"So, why don't you tell me about yourself, if there's anything to tell?" She spoke again bored. It wasn't as if she cared to know. But sometimes silence was a little too maddening. It could at least help calm her stress levels.

"I have a few stories, though for what interest you'd find in them it would equally bore me to talk." His eyes looked ahead. "Since you asked and we are near," he began his sentence without giving any pretense to what he was speaking of, "that pass up ahead is the highest part of this trail, and the lowest part of this mountain range."
They were headed straight north and it could be seen that a low wedge had been cut in the mountain range they were about to cross. "To the west is where I was born." Icy mountains could be seen, and he eyed them to make sure there was no mistaking the west he spoke of as the lowlands or skirting hills they were now climbing. "A normal human like you would probably die. You're blood isn't warm enough. We should reach the top of the pass by nightfall. It should be warm enough at that elevation for you to weather the night, though the winds will be strong at that point. There are shelters I have memorized in the rocks that should make it bearable even for a normal human like you. Assuming pink haired women are humans... If that idea sounds bad we should stop here and cross the pass at daylight. It will only add one more day before we reach the town."
He continued walking, hinting that continuing the faster pace is what he preferred.

Took the hint easily and had begun to follow him again. He didn't know anything of her people. They suffered quite a few deadly winters, but she didn't understand this world either, so arguing about it would be rather pointless. She sniffled and groaned quietly to herself over still being sick.
What exactly had he meant by his body temperature would help her weather the night? She hoped he wasn't suggesting they sleep close together. She sighed to herself and would assume it wasn't. Holding the thin pope between her teeth as she spoke.
"Just keep moving then." She spoke again in her same tone. She was a lazy person, and speaking with too much emotion was against how she was raised. It also felt entirely unnecessary to sound interested when you were in fact not that interested.
Along the way, they didn't encounter much, the barren land didn't provide anything to keep her sights on besides what was in the distance. For awhile, the daylight had proven to be too much while the road was so bright against her eye.
As the evening came upon them, she noticed the temperature was rapidly dropping once again. Instinctively she moved the fold her otherwise widely open kimono. She barely moved it, on enough to cover a small portion of her cleavage. She tightened the small sash around her waist just a small amount as well.
As visibility was becoming more difficult, and with only one eye and a lack of depth perception, it was going to be much harder for her than it was for him. She frowned and closed a little of the distance between them by only a foot at most, giving them at least two feet of a walking distance. She found herself trying to rely on her eyes at night, while during the day it was easy to rely on her hearing only opening them now and then. But in the dark, she was unable to get much use of opening her eye at all.
Speaking up about this problem, would be cutting a notch in her pride, instead she groaned quietly and would continue on as far as he was willing to go. This was a bit bothersome.

It wasn't dark for too long, being an experienced man of the mountains he knew when it got dark it happened in an instant. They had to do some small climbing up some steep rocks and Zathire moved quickly up a large crevasse that if someone wedged their foot in the bottom it was steep enough to pinch trap it there. He had to mountain climb a few bits and noticed when he darted left he sometimes lost her for a second.
He jumped back down. He could see through her pride facade, he didn't bother her about it though since she only had one eye. A searing hot 134 degree Fahrenheit arm rested on her back and he somewhat guided half shoved her up the climbing wedge of rock. When she got to the top she'd be facing south where the off distance land wasn't shadowed by the mountains and gave some refractive light from the sun that had only set within the last hour or two.
Again he was taking the lead and he had to remember that if the stories his mother told him were true than climbing was in his blood and it might not be as easy for someone else. He found a nook in the rock that only and index finger would fit on and launched his body up the face of the rock scuttling his feet quickly an exact height before reaching a bump that let him kick towards a "chimney shoot" which he straddled and raced up. Getting to the top he saw a small bump of rock he could brace his foot against like a racer getting ready to sprint from the start. He used that for there was a 14 foot gap of rock and only 2ft to accelerate. The little rock broke in the process of him using it but it still provided enough acceleration for him to follow through and leap his approximate limit with his sword stupidly tucked between his teeth. His toe hit the cliff wall below the platform he wanted to land on and slowly sponged his momentum so that he wouldn't simply bounce off the rock when his hands slapped the dusty top of the ledge. He shifted his weight forward and rested his knee on top then pressed up, and stood up.
All this random climbing had in fact not been so random, he would have chosen a different path if she was the same as him however she had one advantage. He had gone this way because the only set back was a 18 foot cliff. Not too high to jump down for a few athletes, but certainly too high to jump up. He figured her claw wouldn't be very useful with how blunt and wide most of the rocks were. He saw almost none that looked the right shape for her to use and figured climbing with the fingers that had no sensation was probably not easy.
He held out his sword and blinked boringly. "Grab this." His back leg was set to shift his weight quickly so she wouldn't just simply tip him off the cliff. It was bad planning in retrospect considering her pride and the fact that she might not have a very long chain and he figured her own height of her grip was probably eight feet, so between her vertical leap which he imagined being an athlete she was was probably nearly 2 or 4 that still left the rest of the distance to be made up by the chain. It didn't help that he held his sword above the ground so that it was level. Something that probably looked fishy to Baiken considering how strong someone would need to be and have the leverage to hold someone's weight at a four foot distance away from the body.
If need be and her chain was too short or her pride to great to accept his help then he'd either lower the handle of his sword and grip the blade, his flesh being much more rubber-like and able to hold onto the smooth surface plus it would give her claw arm the hilt to hold onto, if it was her pride then he'd grow impatient and keep an eye on her for a few minutes before leaving to the cave which was visible from that platform he stood on.
It was a tall narrow entrance 40ft away and the interior went back about 14ft where it was at least six feet wide, its irregular shape having a certain patch in the middle that was about nine feet wide making it roughly the shape of a lower case "t".
Zathire kicked the pebbles to the corner making sure none of them stuck into his back and laid down on the smooth rock. It was something that someone who hadn't slept on rocks much might find surprisingly comfortable. Zathire didn't know any better though, he hadn't much experienced normal human city life nor lived amongst other people much, secretly he had been observing Baiken to try and understand more about the lowlanders which he thought she might be like.

She frowned as they began to climb. Baiken had been incapable of doing so since she lost her arm. Though her newer attributes had given her a small advantage at times. The heat from his arm was indeed noticed, only confirming her thought from earler. This cliff was an exception to that advantage. She would wait at the bottom for him to reach the top. He would be out of the way once he reached the top, and if he offered help she would accept it, only under the understanding to herself that it wasn't exactly necessary but just offered for the hell of it.
She tapped the small pipe against the wall and stuffed it back into her sash securing it in place and once again tightening the sash around her waist to keep her other hidden items secured inside the hidden folds and pockets of her kimono.
When he offered his sword, it was...accepted. Frowning as she tried to think of the distance between them. A single chain more than likely couldn't reach that distance. She yawned quietly before pulling the sleeve out of her way, the ball chain dropping from it's hold as she caught it in her left hand. A normal hook was attacked to the ball so it would be able to hook onto itself. The detachment from her arm was a little more painful than she would have liked to admit. A verbal curse given when it was fully released from it's socket. The nerve endings that controlled it were all screaming.
With a bit of ease she spun it in her hand and threw it well enough for it to wrap itself around the end of his sword. She knew it was far more than capable of supporting her weight by the way he used it. Next she stepped back at least a foot and shot her claw hand to grasp a hold of the chain dangling from his sword and began reeling herself in like a fish on the end of a pole. Once she was able to grab the attachable end of the first chain, on her way up she reattached it with a wince and reeled it in as well to catch the slack, once she reached the claw hand it detached and she used the rest of the ball chain to pull herself up until her foot caught the ledge and she stepped forward. Unhooking herself from his sword and pulling in the remainder of the chain to conceal it once again.
A nod was given in appreciation for the fact that he had stayed and gave her the easier way up. With the silence between them being kept she followed him to the large cave. It was even darker here than outside. She kept a hand to the wall and made careful steps as she followed him all the way in. With a sigh, she sat down when she heard him sit down against the ground. The temperature was getting colder, even though the slight elevation was a little warmer than down below. With the sun completely gone at this point, there was nothing to call warmth that she could physically see. She could start a fire, but being unable to see anything in the dark...there wasn't much she could do for now.

He didn't wait for her permission, the fact that she was shivering and a woman was enough for him. He sat down behind her and reached his arms out in front of her chest and pulled her back up against his chest and hunched forward. The icy cold was nearly unbearable and he figured for a normal human, if a pink haired girl could possibly be one, that the cold would be even worse. He didn't have to say much, it was a mutual understanding that they'd likely freeze. His arms wrapped around her one biceps radiating heat onto her belly and the other the bottom of her neck as he let his elbows shelter the side of her ribs somewhat.
She might become offended by this, but to him it made no sense for a man and woman to bare the cold any other way. He'd let her push him off, but until then he'd keep as little air space between them so that the wind would not rob them of their heat. Near the entrance the cold really started to pick up and with them being near a pass, the natural geography of the rock made two large pockets of air and when the temperature cooled it was a natural generator for high winds. As time went by they would howl progressively louder and the occasional sound of loose sand would be heard slithering over the gravel.

Baiken frowned as she accepted the warmth he was offering. She wouldn't fight back, or make any complaints. The metal touching and fused with her skin was unbearably cold. The heat from his arm was enough to slightly warm it and keep it from giving her any form of frost bite. A quiet was released as she leaned back rather comfortably.
Baiken curled her knees up against his arms to use the length of her Kimono almost like a blanket over her legs and to cover his arms from the building wind.

He was quite quickly reminded of the fact that this was a woman's body he was holding, even the smell of her was intoxicating. His body acted on instinct to pull her in closer until she was sitting on his lap and he was resting his chin over her shoulder like a territorial animal. He extended his legs out to hug around her knees almost turning himself into a human blanket. He might at this point be uncomfortably warm for her with his searing body heat of 134 dropping down slightly to around 122 as his racing metabolism finished digesting the bulk of the over-sized meal he'd had earlier. To a normal human like her he'd feel like a human bonfire that burned steak instead of firewood.

Baiken became immediately aware of his masculine scent. There were no heavy scented cologne, or other heavily scented products from where she was before. This world was closer to her original home world. She settled inside the embrace to become comfortable enough to relax. Her arm rested over his over the arm resting over her belly. She would be able to bare this sort of thing for the night. Cuddling with someone was so...weird.
Still, she was appreciative of the warmth he was providing for her. It was easier than lighting a fire, even if the warmth was almost a little unbearable. She sighed again as she looked toward the entrance of the cave once more before she began to dose off into a light sleep. Subconsciously she rested her head against the side of his so as not to get a terrible crick in her neck.
She was aware even in sleep of his masculine attributes. Strong arms around her in a rather protective manner. His legs that cocooned around her. The way his neck was resting over her shoulder like a possessive animal. Her heart rate increased only by a few beats while her cheeks just barely warmed. Her own body temperature was rising.

Every fiber of his body was yearning for hers. The way she was situated didn't help make things any easier to resist, however despite the fact he found nothing weird with simply sleeping with the girl, he also noticed her doze off and felt it somehow a man's responsibility to keep her warm and didn't want to wake her up. He scooted only once, hoping not to awaken her, as he shifted the direction he was facing so that he could look out the entrance and gazed out into night scene.
He took the time to mull over his life and try and think of its purpose and answer if he was there for anything or just a victim of creation. Right now keeping this strange pink haired woman warm gave him a purpose and made him feel slightly content. Still, as he laid his eyes on the few stars that were visible from his angle he had to wonder if there was anything more in store for his life that the future might still hold. He didn't sigh, but he did let out a warm breath that lit up as it wafted through a stream of moonlight.
He didn't sleep; he wanted to enjoy this rare chance he felt like he served a purpose.

Baiken slept rather soundly for at least an hour before she fell into a sleep heavy enough for rem sleep. Now and then she would twitch in her sleep. Her fingers gripping his arm momentarily before she relaxed again. A clear indication she had started to dream. Subtle movements stirring her scent against him.
The dream followed down a path she had hoped it wouldn't.
“It's going to be okay, we have to defend the rest of our people, come on!” This was a rare moment for Haji...even at the scale of destruction he was usually never this serious. He had always been a lighthearted man, never really seeming to take anything serious at all. All though she was shaken, Baiken gave a sudden nod and found herself. She had a sneer on her face that would normally send grown men to their knees. She had been called a devil for her look when she would have a hatred directed towards anyone. The pain and sorrow at the loss of so many already was enough to drive her. To hone her skill in the instant her feet were set in stance. The two of them now moved swiftly to reach the automaton that was rampaging through the countryside. Baiken began to struggle lightly in her sleep. She was slowly becoming tense from her nightmare. Nevertheless, all too quickly...this fight would end. Baiken now unable to dodge a missile directed for her, but...it did not directly hit her. It should have! Why didn't it hit her!? Baiken's breathing was beginning to shorten and speed up in her stressful situation. Her thoughts instantly fell to the new body that lay over her own. There was pain in her left eye and right shoulder. She could not feel her arm. She could not really see. What happened?! Who was on top of her now?! The monster? What was-...NO!!
“HAJI!!” She screamed the name as she woke, her breathing exasperated as she went to reach for her sword only to be blocked by Zathire's arms around her. She struggled for a moment still dazed from her memory induced nightmare.
She wouldn't allow herself to cry, but she wasn't fast enough to stop how afraid she had appeared. This world jump...must have triggered her memories under her stress levels. She began to catch her breath and attempt to settle down.

The natural way she was settled on him had been disturbed, and a certain part of his body that wanted to be inside what it felt above him wouldn't allow this so he pulled her hips back and settled himself back into a comfortable position in which her back rested snugly against his stomach not letting the cold air sneak in between them like it had for a moment.
The rubbing of their bodies in this motion made him grumble as his body knew what it wanted more than the brain was willing to admit, and it began trying to override his passive actions of simply sitting there. The result was as he pulled her back his pelvis scooted forward brushing against her quite firmly. None of these actions would be too unsettling, however they might be noticed as they occurred the brief moment before he shifted his armpits back over her shoulders taking her back into what looked like was most comfortable way they settled.

Baiken slowly began to settle down. Her surroundings starting to become clear even in the dark. The pink haired samurai became aware of something pressing against her more firmly than the rest of the barbarian's body. Somewhere, that had her actually turning a bit red. She turned to look over her left shoulder and gave a rather flat, threatening stare.
It wasn't really his fault that this had happened. She had probably been moving in her sleep and him being the simplistic male he was, this really wasn't his fault. Assuming anyways. She clenched her teeth and repositioned herself to get off of his lap, but no entirely get off of him. Now she faced her side against him and sat down against the ground between his legs. This was going to be a long night seeing as she had only been asleep for maybe 30 minutes.
Her hand dragged down her face before she leaned against him again, her back now exposed to the freezing cold air. Her left side against him, as she adjusted her arm again, she would feel the back of her forearm and hand brush against his hardened abdomen. Why did he have to be this masculine? It was frustrating to suddenly feel rather feminine. Her own thoughts wondered momentarily to imagine what exactly had been on his mind before she shook the thoughts away and rested her head against his shoulder.
"You should sleep." She commented quietly before she closed her eye again. There wasn't a chance she was going to do anything with someone she had only just barely met. No matter how emotionally destraut she ahd felt, no matter how stressed she was, or how lost she felt in this new world. It wasn't going to happen.
Her sleep wasn't going to come easy, as she wanted to avoid her nightmares...so she would only pretend to sleep for now.

As she got off he raised an eyebrow despite the fact it was too dark to see such a gesture. "You're so weird..." He gave a shrug not much caring. He figured since their genders were different and she was following him that things would have progressed more, however it didn't bother him much since it was just some stranger. He figured, like a lowlander, she probably was unsettled with her trivial thoughts full of confusion and other meaningless crap that clouded her thoughts.
He scooted a bit away from her since she said he should sleep and he had previously only remained holding her to keep her warm and had never had any worries about himself getting sleep. He figured she meant that she was fine and warm how she was so he laid down on the cold rock, perfectly fine.
He cupped his hands behind his head he rested his eyes. Perhaps pink haired people were not like lowlanders and didn't need to kept warm. Though from what he felt her body was as cool as theirs if not even more. It surprised him that she'd tell him to sleep, he'd not thought she'd be concerned for his sake. His body sensing it was time to rest went straight to work healing the strains and injuries he'd encountered and rose up back again to 135. With the moon's angle his abnormality made it look like his skin was slowly steaming.
He'd completely misread her message so having scooted away when she intended to lean against him she would now be back to facing the cold on her own. The howling winds were starting to settle but still blew rather fiercely. However most of the temperature and air pressure changes had equalized so there was not as much drive to keep them going at least until the sun came up and they reversed direction, but that was still many hours away.

Baiken frowned as she found herself having to suddenly lean against the wall as he moved away from her completely. She wasn't really going to complain, but the cold hit her like a ton of bricks. SHivering again almost instantaneously. She sneered toward the ground. The winters in this world were far more harsh than what she had experienced. It was this cold and it wasn't even snowing? How was that possible?
"I-I...augh." She could hardly speak with how hard her teeth were chattering. She suddenly covered her face with her sleeve and sneezed. Her flu was coming back due to the drop in her body temperature. She huddled against the warm part of the wall where he'd been sitting.
She was unable to wrap her arm around herself. Touching the metal on her right side far too cold.
"Y-you did not...n-need to move" She finally forced the words from her chattering teeth as she stared at the barbarian lying on the floor. He was obviously not bothered by her denying him of anything, but the fact he misunderstood her commenting him on him getting his sleep...was a little frustrating. Her fever would more than likely attack her by morning...or sooner with how the weather was. She would probably die from hypothermia overnight.
Frost was starting to build on the outside of the metal on her shoulder and even trying to build through her clothing. She could see her breath before her...this was far too cold for her to bare. She could hardly move fro how tense she felt trying to fight the cold.

He smirked, not because he was an 'I told you so' kinda guy, but just from the way she had suddenly spoken so energetically and seriously that it caught him a bit off-guard having not matched her previous personality even slightly. He made a mental note that pink haired people were probably worse than lowlanders. He knew his mother was, so he figured with how many random people he'd seen especially at ports where boats came from that there were many habitats that different people came from.
He didn't stand up, he rolled his eyes and sighed, too annoyed to take orders from an inconsistent woman who couldn't make up her mind. He extended a lazy arm to her waist and yanked her from her position so that she was laying on top of him in a very provocative way. No doubt this might shock Baiken and make her feel uncomfortable like a woman, to make matter's escalate he looked deep into her eyes like they were about to kiss.
However, the words that came from his mouth were very anti-climatic to the scene he was building: "Are you from the desert or something?"

Baiken was indeed a little taken aback by the sudden provocative position, but this was weather cold enough that she didn't care. She just wanted to get warm, if he had intent of teasing her in such a way, then she would cope with it while he offered her the warmth she was in need of. Though that in no way meant he would be capable of getting away with much.
When pushed to her limitations, her mind would change, her actions would change. This was inevitable, and for almost anyone it was a true fact. However, she wasn't going to react much to the position she was in. How close they were together, and the fact it did look like they were going to kiss.
"Desert? I'm not from this world. I'm from a place called Japan." Initially she felt inclined to inform him of her own people, her colony, the idea of where she was from. But, putting his personality into perspective...it was probably better just to be quiet unless he asked about it, or it actually became a necessary fact.
With that, she silenced herself and rested her forehead against his shoulder.
