Blond hair like strung gold, eyes a brilliant aquamarine, and a slender figure wrapped in pale skin now rested comfortably on the thick branch of the high red wood tree. The sun shining down between the leaves like a mesmerizing dance of life as it brought warmth to the elf's skin. A depressive sigh heaved through her nostrils as she stared up to the leaves.
It got lonely out in the forest some times, even with a colony of people, there just never seemed to be anything interesting about it anymore. It was all the same.
Pointed ears twitched, hearing unfamiliar heavy steps go through the thick forest a mile away. She didn't move, but waited. Wondering who might be making a mistake in coming this far into the forest. She closed her eyes focusing on sounds. Whoever it was, they were far too heavy to be an elf or a dark elf. Too big for an animal. Could have been a human. She almost felt sorry for any human wandering around by themselves out here. Even as fast as she was, with the distance between them, someone else was bound to kill them before she reached their location. So she remained where she was, and listened for the foot falls to come to a single heavy thud.

Clanking sounds of axes could be heard as the large group approached the solitary man. "Look who we have here!" A few hearty laughs were let out. "Do you really think you know how to use that?" "Yep," the lone figured voice returned. "We'll see about that." "We will," the confident solitary one spoke, "and if I'm right I'll be taking that shiny bag of coins as my reward." The sound of a rushing swoosh was made, however no metal slammed against metal, instead the sound of a creaking tree could be heard, a fir tree around eight inches in diameter toppled, and came down with a crash of soft branches. "Whoa look at that one go!" the once threatening voice cried out in a now more friendly tone. "I guess I will be giving you a shiny reward." There was a temporary pause as the lead voice shifted from the stranger to the others. "Alright well lets get this job done." With that several axes began beating away at the trees. Some of the six inch saplings were already cut down and being carried to the river within the span of two minutes. Tree after tree were batted down, most in less than three chops. It became quite exhausting, and after it became midday sun the man panted on top of one of the logs he'd toppled that still rested in a fairly shaded area. He was surprised for something unusual was found in the tree he couldn't quite understand. He went to get a closer look, scratching his chin, not sure what to make of what he saw.

The elf launched from the tree at the familiar sounds of trees falling, axes cutting in to the wood, and now the sounds of trees being taken down.
To her ears, she understood these people were harvesting. That it wasn't just one man, but many. Frowning with irritation at the trees being so close to the land that didn't allow such, she was hoping that the humans weren't planning on trespassing in to the land that was forbidden for them to cut down anything.
"No..." The elf let out the quiet plea as she stood in the tall tree, now peering down at the humans who were taking down trees that weren't permitted in being cut. The final tree that fell was a home. The inside of the tree was hallowed out and inside was a large staircase. It had led to the top of the tree and in to a home where a small family had been staying and were now vacated to a new tree in safety.

Large orange cankles hit the scraggly moss. The lumberjack let out a groan as he reached for his feet to stretch them after letting them air out from exhausting work trapped all day in his boots.
With a hefty crunch he staked his large sword rather than axe directly into the dirt letting its own weight guide the way as he crawled into the awkward tree.
Normally the man held no fear, but at the moment he showed some rare signs of caution as he touched the odd formations within the tree, almost as if he expected to touch something slimy.
Some sort of spiraling stepping pattern as if it had rotted out in a helix. It was the only explanation he could fathom, however after touching the wood it was quite damp alive and fresh. There were no signs of rot. What's more odd is there were no signs of organic randomness. It was very symmetrical, very defined, the steps were clean, as if someone had carved them. However there was no signs of scraping let alone logic for as to why someone would go in the tree and do this. As wondrous as what he found baffling was, it was also starting to get annoying wondering how it could possibly work. It wasn't like the tree species had ever done this before, he'd cut down plenty, this tree was a lone freak.
It would be two more hours since it was midday, and even in the shade temperatures picked up, at least to those who constantly worked. After this long brake he'd have to take their haul down to the river, however he somewhat felt like keeping this tree a secret. While part of him screamed to show what he found to others another half of him simply found the idea of their questions and curiosity could end up annoying at some point, besides it made him feel kind of special to know about this.
With a yawn and his feet dangling out the end of the tree he dozed off.
